THE ARISTOCATS: DUCHESS IN DISTRESS
Duchess from Disney movie "The Aristocats"
A loving family of cats lived in a sumptuous villa in the Paris of the Belle Epoque. The mistress of Duchess, Toulouse, Marie and Berlioz was the widow of one of the most important tycoons in France and had accustomed cats to a life of ease worthy of the nobles of the ancient regime.
Family days followed each other carefree and joyful until a simple conversation changed everything.
Madame Adelaide understood that she did not have so many years of life left, so she called the notary of trust, as well as a bizarre character and a great friend of her, to draw up her will.
Surprisingly, the woman intended to leave everything as a legacy to her beloved cats and only after their death, money and property would pass to the butler Edgar; the lady did not have any relatives alive.
Just Edgar, nosy like few others, was eavesdropping on the conversation. He briefly considered and realized that he would take over the legacy only many years later. And he was certainly not of first hair. His employer had been generous with him,but he was tired of leading a modest existence. He now wanted something else. He then drew up a plan.
Duchess and the puppies devote themselves to art lessons as every afternoon and evening came in no time. Edgar brought them dinner: a delicious milk-based soup. The four animals fed with taste, until once they empty the bowls, so they felt sleepy and went to bed. Edgar had decided to get rid of them. So he drugged them to do that in the night.
So it was.
He abandoned them near a small stream several kilometers from Paris.
The night passed. The awakening was a shock. Soon the cats understood that it was not a dream, but it was reality. Someone, for some reason, had kidnapped them and abandoned them there. They had to find a way to go back home. But that was not the most pressing problem. In fact a large and threatening electric eel appeared, giving the impression of being interested in a cat-based breakfast.
. It had already identified its prey, the weakest of the four eligible candidates: Marie. So it concentrated and let go an electric discharge in the direction of the puppy.
With an explosive jump, Duchess threw herself in protection of her daughter and was hit in her place. An excruciating pain pervaded her body and forced her to utter distressing and noisy complaints. The eel liked well cooked meals and unfortunately for the cat it took time.
However, the racket had attracted the attention of a stray cat wandering around the surroundings.
When Thomas O'Malley saw that a charming cat was in distress he did not hesitate to run to her rescue.
The road had taught him how to deal with bullies and evildoers and he managed bravely to frighten the eel enough to make it run away.
Duchess fell unconscious, but was safe.
When she woke up she didn't remember much. Her puppies were licking her wounds, while Thomas sat in front of her holding a bouquet of flowers between his paws.
That beautiful white cat with blue eyes had conquered him, and having saved her from a dangerous situation made it all more exciting.
He soon discovered that the interest was mutual and after a courtship throughout the journey to Madame's house, love struck.
Ah the plan was discovered and Edgar was driven out and reported. His male figure inside the house was replaced by Thomas, who was welcomed by Madame Adelaide as a son, as well as her other cats.
